Hello, I have installed these electronics for Edam E-Spirit (electric 1/10 nitro touring based) to use with 11.1 V 3S lipos. Internal ratio of the car is 2. Which final ratio will you use for starting point? :o :o :o

LRP recommends 1: 7.5 final ratio for this motor with 2S. But I will use LRP 11.1V 4500mah 40-80C

You have a very small range of possible ratio. Spur gear seems to be fix at 89T. Pinion gear can be 20T to 24T. If you use the smallest(shortest) ratio the overall ratio would be 8.9:1. I suggest to start with 20T pinion gear if you use 3S instead of 2S and check the temperature of the motor frequently. If you increase voltage power you have to reduce the ratio. Therefore 23T or 24T seems to be too much for 3S, so the range of possible pinion gears can be 20T to 22T (8.9:1 <-> 8.09:1)

I am not limited with spurs, the spurs for Serpent S411 are compatible, so i can use them, (Edam also sells from 70T to 80T) Only limit is the motor mount and if needed i will use a dremel.

I have to short ratio with 3S if i use the same motor than with 2S but this is not the case i will use a 4800kv 4 poles and i was using a 4.5T with a lot more of kv with 2S. The idea is to make a 4800kv work at 3S with more or less the same final rpm than with a 4T-5T at 2S (about 50000 rpm)

Which ratio will you use with smaller spur?

Of course Edam offer such pinions or spur gears, but check specification of this car at http://www.edam.com.tw/shopping_view.asp?sn=885# Is this your car?

PINION GEAR 48P: 20-24T (64P:26-32T)
SPUR GEAR 48P: 89T (64P:119T)

Yes this is the car, I understand those ratios are with 2S lipo and a powerful 4.5 to 3.5T brushless motor. Edam itself recommends final ratio <7.5 with 3S lipo and 550/540 short course type motors (5 mm axle pinions) (this info appears at his facebook page) ,and of course you can´t get it with 89/19.

I think is very clear this car needs 11.1V or more to work properly on big asphalt tracks. For indoor or small tracks 7.4V is ok.

The experiment has been done before. Last summer a dutch guy (NDZ) tried his Espirit 220 mm with Lehner 1920/6 and 11.1V, he destroyed esc rx8 using a ratio of 5.4 (84/30) (too large I think)

Here you have a video, i will try in Lola body 200 mm and nitro foams (less weight) , not 220 Lola and superbarchetta foams

Have you andy experience with the gear differential? is it hardened?

That's what I've suggested.... Start with a smaller gear pinion! :)

Gear differential is the same as nitro, internal parts are made of metal. It has 2 gear differentials , front and rear.
